  • Make Love Not War
    Hi peeps,

So with all this rucus in the middle east threatening to turn into world war 3 it brings me back to age old subject of war and the pointlesness of it all.

The way I see things as they stand right now is that all this war is fuelled by a bucnh of tesstosterone fuelled boys with big guns that really kill people. Next time you pick up an argos catalouge or go into a toy shop do the following. If your buying a toy for a boy what options do you have, well let me tell you, about 80% of all boys toys are war or destruction related. Toy guns, toy tanks, toy soldiers etc etc. Then we look at the kids TV, we have power Rangers, Transformers, Dr Who and a whole host of others that almost justify violence against an (in most cases) unknown or misunderstood enemy. Then we get on to films, on screen violence is just averywhere. There is a new film out with a kid as james bond. Violence although not graphic is still there. This is one of life's mysteries for me, sex and nudity is frowned upon to the extreme but being violent to another human being is considered the norm. Why is that, are we all secretly prudish beyond measure? do we all want to blow our neighbour away with shot gun or BFG (Big F*****g Gun to all you none gamers!). To me this makes no sense, it is somthing we are technically brought into the world for, to procreate. Is there somthing wrong with that? There obviously must be otherwise it would be more sociably acceptable, more so than voilence.

It seems to me that we are all being brought up as 'fresh meat for the grinder' and to go off and do our bit. Brought up to think that war is cool and fun and to think there are no consequences.

Now the question we must ask ourselves, if love was featured in films more than voilence would the world be a better place? If women were in charge of the military and polotics would the world be a safer and better place?

War doesn't decide who's RIGHT! It only decides who's LEFT!

Later people, its too hot and late to carry on anymore.

    Marc.

    PS Make Love not War!

  • Now July arrives!
Well, im back in the UK for a short while, I just hope the mill and estate doesn't all go to pot in my absence :-) But I am sure you all know how it is, I miss Karina too much and have decided to settle in or around durham. Its a lovely city and of course there is another bonus in the form of Karina. I am currently looking for a job for the long term, had my fun in Europe as it were, now its time to dig my heels in. Not that I wear heels you understand, well basically settle. Its been a difficult time for K and I over the past 9 months, more so for K as she has had a hard time at work, as for me its been awesome and an eye opener. I have decided my ability to learn another language is quite bad, that came after day two when I told a supermarket lady the 'I dont know why I loved her but I did!' that was more embarrassing than giving speach at a christmas party witha giant 'George £10' sticker on my new trousers. :-(

Puppies are all good, as are the donkeys, Jasime, Chino, cats and numerous other insects, fish and rodents that I have befriended! Although I have fallen out with perdy for leaving a gaint tick in my bed. Plus there was ralf the snake who thought it would be funny to hide in my sock draw! He's a viper by the way, yes they do bite!

Im still only a sargent in BF2 so a little disappointd with regards to my lack of promotion, but hey ho.

Working quite hard at every spare moment on a small invention at the moment, hopefully, if I pull it off, and it actually works it will change the face of automobiles forever. Fingers crossed. Although it might not!

Its been hot as anything in France when I left, was 37 and even touched 38, wont be long before we get 40. I found it impossible to actually do any work in that heat, I just stood complaining to myself about how hot it was, plus my ipod packed up if it got too hot, great! Never come this far south if you dont have aircon too, should be a law about that.

Anyway, must dash. Got some more job applications to fill in, plus must get Karina somthing. Was thinking of flowers..........

    Later peeps

  • Has it really been this long?

Well, what can I say except apologise for the verylong lapse in updates about my life.

The post few months have been eventful to say the least, Melanie seems to be doing really well at the moment. You can go and have a peak for yourselves here!

Most recently we have aquired some new puppies you can find a few short vids of them on my utube account amongst other things such as the short film I made and some other comedy things. Remember to leave some feedback, and be kind! :-)

Okay what else, well again I am leaving for the UK tomorrow and will be heading straight for Karina and spending my entire time with her until monday, its tuesday today by the way. Will be scoping the job scene in newcastle again, got a good feeling about this one so fingers crossed. Alot of you (maybe 4 of the 5 of you!) will be thinking why I want to go back to the UK, well thats a one word answer, KARINA. So thats that. Speaking of which I have got battlefield 2 and am not all that good at it to be honest, you can check out my stats. You may notice something about my name. Yep thats right its anirak, Karina backwards. FYI I have also managed to register www.anirak.co.uk which I am quite excited about. This is going to be my base for a few inventions I have lined up. Can't go into details as could get rogered by some big multinational on patents. So watch out :-)

Also decided to register www.marcboorman.com, so there will be my own site at some point but got to get a job to pay for the server yet so again keep an eye out.

Anyway, have uploaded some pics of the puppies and recent eventuallities to give you all a bit eyecandy. anyway must go as I have loads of stuff to do today and its too nice to be indoors on the computer.

    Take care

  • Short one
Okay, here is a short update of my blog, I am getting ready to go back to the UK again to spend Valentines day with Karina. Again, yes I am excited and have I got her a card? no!

But I am hoping to get one from the airport as all the valentines cards here are in french and I am not sure if I am buying a valentines card or a birthday card. Yes thats right folks I still can't speak french.

Anyway, must dash as I have got alot of packing to do.

PS Karina if the plane crashes and I dont make it I just want to let you know that I love you! :-) See you on the other side.

  • Experience is a harsh teacher
Well its becuse the teacher of experience offers the lesson after the test!

May I introdue the world of The Shark to www.Boogle.com, it is a site of quotes and I find it awesome. Of course I digress yet again from the real importance of my space to inform the less informed and basically talk about myself in a self obseesed and arogant manner for which I become legendary! (Only joking, trying to let the audience think I really am that arogant!)

OK, well. I went back to the UK on the 29th as everyone knows and met up with Karina, Had a totally nice time and really didn't want to come back to France. We spent New Year together and shared some ace memories.I am going back to the UK on the 13 of Febuary for a special few days as its quickly approaching Feburay the 14th, Valentines day. I was hoping to get a glass rose for her but its proving somewhat difficult to source on at the moment. I'm going to go to a specialty glassware maker in a village near here to see if I can get a good price for a besppoke one, but will shall see. I want a very elegant one with green glass leaves and red glas petals and a clear stem, so not expecting much then. It may just end up being a run off the mill single red rose. But l hold out hope.

Anyway, not much else really happened this month. We are going to pick up the ponies on Tuesday so got that to look forward to. Might be quite an event so expect pictures and a description of the day.

Don't be afraid to take one large step because you can't cross a chasm in two small leaps. My weeks moto.

    Take care all.

  • About to fly home!
Hello all, am waiting nervously for my flight to newcastle to see the GF. Remember, if you want the safest place to sit on a plane sit above the wing! its the strongest part of the aircradft. Of course hitting the ground at anything more than 120 kts is most probaby complete loss of life on board! so siting above the wing wont make a bit of differnce :-) You may aswell jump out!

  • Post Christmas entry- - Nothing much to report Sir!
Well, thats it. it's all over till next year. Must say that I'm gonna miss christmas, we all managed to be in the same place this year which was really nice. We all took the mickey out of Nan, which is kind of a tradition at our house every christmas. The cat pissed on the log basket as we were all watching 'True Grit', other than that this christmas has been truly uneventful.

Unrelated to the christmas spirit  of things we have finised erecting the stable for the donkeys that we will be getting in the next couple of weeks, we have decided to call them Woody and Morebella (Not sure if that show its spelt, wasnt my first choice of name.) They are a present for my mum form dad so she is naturally excited although I know who is going to have to mess them out :-(

Its good having my sister about too as we both can have a moan about our parents whcih is a welcome break from having to just go out into the field and dig a whole and fill it back in, sounds a bit wierd but it gets your mind off of anything thats bothering you. :-)

Ohh, called my Gf on Xmas day and she opened her present on the phone, I think she sounded impressed although she could be being polite for my sake, but going home to see her on thursday so will be ale to tell when I get there.

Other than that nothing else has happened.

    Take care peeps.

  • So whats this Christmas stuff all about then?
Only a couple of days to go until Christmas. YEY! But whats it all about then? 100 years ago I have no idea what it was like, I wasn't even born. Lets ask Nan!

Nan, What was Christmas like when you were young?
"I loved it, I mean we didn't have money but it was just so enjoyable. We used to get up early and I would run downstairs and get my stocking and there would be lots of little presents. My mother would get up between 5am and 6am to light the fire and make boiled eggs for our breakfast. That was quite a treat back then!"

Boiled eggs! I don't really like boiled eggs. Couldn't you of had Crunchy Nut Cornflakes?
"No, we had poridge with golden syrup or toast done on the open fire!"

Did you open your presents before or after breakfast?
"Before, we had all the presents done and dusted in time for breakfast"

    What was your favourite present?
"Our mother used to knit my sister and I dresses, they were my favourite!"

Is that what you went out on the town with to hook up with Grandad?
"No, I was only about 8"

Oh. Its interesting you haven't mentioned much about Jesus, did you know Jesus?
"When we lived at Buntingford we would go to church 3 times on a sunday. On Christmas day we didn't go to church, but my mother did and no,I didn't know Jesus"

Did you argue with your sister about presents and stuff?
"Only very rarely, but never on christmas day"

    Did you drink much booze?
"Not me, mother uswed to have a bottle of stout and father would go to the pub. Although mother would make some rhubarb wine for us all, but it was just like fruit juice"

A bit like an alcho-pop then?
    "alcho what?...........zzzzzzzz"

So there we go fellow bloggites, Christmas was very similar 100 years ago to what it is in 2005 except for computers, lego and Crunchy Nut Cornflakes!

I must admit that I was suprised at the lack of much religion being involved, I mean thats how it all started. wasn't it? These days I find Christmas is possibly a bit too commercialised. However, if we step back and take a look at the overall picture of what christmas means to everyone in 2005 the picture looks like this (My interpretation!)

Over time it looks like christmas has changed from celebrating the fact that a particualr person was born to being more of a celebration of our friends and family. People do come out at this time of year complaining about losing the meaning of christmas, but I contest this. If it has changed to a celebration of family and friends is that such a bad thing? In a time when society seems to be loosing its sense of community and neighbours rarely talk to one another I think that christmas is right to become a time for friends and family. I love my family and my friends very much. I think that books, friends, family and the car you drive our the things that make you as a person. If you don't drive a car then that sucks!

We also have to look at christmas from poeples perspective that do not celebrate christmas including but not limited to Jews, Hindu and Jedi! Actually I am not sure if Jedi celebrate christmas or not, but for arguments sake we shall say not.
The alternative religions perspective must be similar to what mine must be of there's, but here is a point that seems unfair. School Holidays! At the moment we are in the school holidays. Were the holidays that happened to coincide with christmas picked because of christmas when school holidays came into being? This I do not know. But it does seem unfair that Christians get the christmas period off (if your at school!) and other religions don't. But hold on, is this unfair. Great Britain is a Kingdom with a long history, with its foundations born from Christian faiths such as Catholic and Church of England to name but a few. So technically if we are to keep our history as our on going foundation for the future then we should have Christmas as a public school holiday.  Of course this is just my little opinion and to be honest it doesn't count for much, and it probably doesn't make much sense.

Time to wrap it up until after christmas I think, I will naturally be posting pictures of the festivities and reporting on any such shenanigins taking place over this festive period.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

  • Highly Political and sensitive blog this time people!
    Hi,

Well the past few days has been eventful, I bought my girlfriend some flowers, I found a christmas present for my girlfriend, I found out that wood stain also stains pretty much everything else so ideally it should be called 'STAIN' and after all this I have managed to depress myself!

WE shall start with the flowers, my girlfriend works in a school and was having a pretty hard time last week as its getting near the end of the term. So being a bit of a romantic and stuff thought I would pick her up a bit and decided to suprise her witha large flower arrangment, it managed to work out quite well too as she had it delivered during one of her better classes. Needless to say she was chuffed to bits and phoned me pretty much immediately after recieving them, I naturally did a pretty bad job of saying it was nothing to do with me!
The next thing was that after months of phoning people up and sending sound clips of my girlfriends singing to shops (as well as quitar solo's!) I have managed to find a christmas present for her, it is of course a professional studio microphone. It is an SE Electronics 2200A and apparently is quite good for the kind of use that she will need it for. It was a bit on the expensive side but she is well worth it, only problem is - is that I'm not going to be able to see the 'What is it?' expression that will follow opening the box. But I am going back on the 29th december to spend some time with her so totally looking forward to it. Infact its exactly 11 days, 3 hours and 26 minutes before I see her, naturally I'm rather excited :-)

Next I will talk about the depressing part, for some reason I was reading a news report about IED's in Iraq and the number of US and UK casualties, not to mention the thousands of Iraqi civilians who have been killed or injured. But all this aside I was interested in how many people had been hurt or killed serving the coalition as this seems to be the most well documented. I realise how morbid this sounds but it was just curiosity, a simple google search turned up a site that lists all the casualties on an online database that you can query for more accurate metrics. For example I found it suprising that 79% of all US casualties are white, I have always considered the US Army to be similar in percentages of minority to that which it was in the Vietnam War, this stat proves that idea completely wrong! But the one fact that did really get me down was when you start looking at the age of some of these soldiers, the youngest it appears was a young girl aged just 18. She was in the miltary police and looking forward to a a long career in the US army. Now I don't like the army, or war and think both are a waste of time, of course this is in an ideal world which we do not live yet. But this particular case has really hit me deep down somehow. I don't believe and never had believed in the reasoning behind going to war in Iraq. But I am now of the firm belief that we have well and truly destroyed Iraqs ability to look after itself and we must stay until there is no possibility of civil war. Although the pretext for war was wrong and flawed (in my opinion!) I am 100% shoulder to shoulder with the people who are following the orders of our elected leaders, and I hope for everyones safety, both friend and foe.
It is possible that being an old fashioned git it hurts me harder when a female soldier is killed or injured in the line of fire, in which case I am a chouvanist. Either way I really do feel for that young girls family and friends, this will be thier frist christmas without her and I cannot begin to imagine what they or any family who has lost a loved one in this way is going through. I only hope that people who join the armed forces really understand what is expected of them, this is the exact reason I did not join the Royal Navy, not because I was affraid of being killed or injured but I could never willingly kill or hurt another person even if I was in immediate danger! Trust me, I put over 6 months of thought into that decision!
This infact rasies another question, If I hold women in higher regard than men does it make me a chouvanist?

I will be updating before Christmas on a lighter note as I am going to be playing some US Army game to get my mind off it all. Till next time peeps.

  • UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
Well, seeing that my last entry was on the 13 May (About 7 months ago) I  have decided to add another entry. This is partly to alievate the concern of blog readers that I have infact been eaten by a wild animal, dying as a direct consequence and also to quell the unrest that has become apparent for the need for more blog entries.

Okay, well my Girlfriend and I are still going out but alot has changed since May. Firstly I quit my job through lack of a decent payrise, sorry, lack of a payrise and emmigrated to France. Although I still pay a UK national insurance stamp, God bless the European Union. I have also carried out extensive research into Heat magazine and decided it is infact totally pants, I could use stronger language but I fear for the upbringing of my devote blog readers. I am currently learning everything there is to know about Airworthiness Standards and FAR part 23 certification. It makes excellent bedtime reading and can highly recommend it, this is all with an aim to get a job in the aviation industry and eventually become a contractor, then be on about 150K 200K PA. My girlfriend is rather excited by that prospect!
Family wise not mauch has changed, My great aunt died peacfully but it was more of a realease than a heart break and my sister is still a page 3 model 'Melanie Boorman' just incase I have attracted some new audience members.
I have uploaded some pictures for people to see what's been going on so take some time to view them, before anyone asks I have not loaded a pic of my girlfriend as she is a teacher and fears for her own personal saftey! Until I can think of anything really exciting I will get back out to work the land as I have been for the past 10 weeks or so.

    Enjoy.
